The distant future. Humanity dwells within an autonomous megastructure known as the Colossus. The Colossus was meant to protect humanity for millennia. Unfortunately, it has just begun to fall apart. Robin, a young and talented engineer, once had a real friend, but now she prefers the company of robots. Val is a dendrologist who longs for a real forest. Can the two protagonists overcome their fear of rejection and forge a connection in the face of an inevitable catastrophe?
